The Behringer Edge is an analog semi-modular percussion synthesizer inspired by the Moog DFAM (Drummer From Another Mother). It features dual analog VCOs with Triangle and Square waveforms, oscillator hard sync, frequency modulation (FM), a switchable 24dB 4-pole low-pass / high-pass ladder filter, a white/pink noise generator, and dual 8-step analog pitch and velocity sequencers integrated with a 15-point Eurorack-compatible patchbay. Parameters are physical-only, responding to Web MIDI clock sync and note/step triggers.

💡 How to configure the Behringer Edge in closeby.one▼

To connect your Behringer Edge to your web browser, connect your synth using a USB cable or a dedicated USB-to-MIDI interface.

Open the MIDI Settings panel above, set the Output Port to your connected Edge device, and select the correct MIDI channel (default is channel 1). Once configured, you can trigger notes, play sequences and arpeggios, synchronize master MIDI clock, and document patch routing sheets directly in your browser.

Firmware & Help Reference

Firmware Version Details

Latest Stable:v1.0.4

Firmware updates via Behringer SynthTool enable configurable MIDI clock division (1 PPQN, 2 PPQN, 4 PPQN, 24 PPQN), MIDI trigger modes, and retrigger options.

MIDI Troubleshooting

🚨 Sequencer steps do not advance when receiving MIDI clock

Ensure the ADVANCE / CLOCK source switch is configured properly. In Behringer SynthTool, set Clock Source to 'MIDI' or 'Auto'. When receiving clock from closeby.one, press the Edge's PLAY button to arm the sequencer for incoming transport start messages.

🚨 Setting MIDI receive channel on the Edge

Set the rear-panel 4 DIP switches to the desired MIDI channel (0000 = Channel 1), or configure the channel over USB via the Behringer SynthTool application.

🚨 Creating heavy analog 808-style kicks and sub-bass

Turn off VCO 1 and VCO 2 in the mixer, set Filter Mode to LP, turn Resonance to near-maximum (self-oscillation), and dial a short Decay on the Filter Envelope. The ringing resonance becomes a pure, sub-heavy kick drum.
