The Behringer PRO-1 is an analog semi-modular paraphonic synthesizer recreation of the legendary Sequential Circuits Pro-One, featuring dual Curtis-clone CEM3340 oscillators, a 24dB/oct 4-pole lowpass filter, dual 4-stage envelopes, dual 64-step sequencers, and Eurorack-compatible CV/Gate patch points. NOTE: Voice parameters (such as cutoff, resonance, mixer levels, and envelope times) are controlled by physical potentiometers on the front panel and do not transmit or receive MIDI Continuous Controller (CC) messages. However, the PRO-1 receives Web MIDI note tracking, pitch bend, gate triggers, and paraphonic dual-note allocation.

💡 How to configure the Behringer PRO-1 in closeby.one

To connect your Behringer PRO-1 to your web browser, connect your synth using a USB cable or a dedicated USB-to-MIDI interface.

Open the MIDI Settings panel above, set the Output Port to your connected PRO-1 device, and select the correct MIDI channel (default is channel 1). Once configured, you can trigger notes, play sequences and arpeggios, synchronize master MIDI clock, and document patch routing sheets directly in your browser.

Physical Discrete Analog Architecture

The Behringer PRO-1 utilizes a discrete, hands-on analog signal path where timbre parameters (such as filter cutoff, resonance, oscillator waveform mixers, and envelope timings) are wired directly to physical potentiometers. Because there are no digital encoders or DAC-controlled VCAs on the parameter circuits, voice controls do not transmit or receive MIDI Continuous Controller (CC) values.

However, the PRO-1 integrates seamlessly with closeby.one for Web MIDI note sequencing, polyphonic/monophonic melody lines, arpeggios, and rock-solid MIDI clock synchronization.

MIDI Troubleshooting

🚨 Enabling Duophonic / Paraphonic Play

Set the Poly/Mono mode switch on the front panel to 'Poly'. When sequencing two notes from closeby.one, Osc A will play the lowest note and Osc B will play the highest note.

🚨 Setting the MIDI Channel on the PRO-1

Use the 4 DIP switches on the rear panel to set the MIDI receive channel (1–16), or connect via USB and configure channels via the Behringer SynthTool software.
