Typhon
The Dreadbox Typhon is a powerful portable analog monophonic synthesizer developed in collaboration with Sinevibes. It combines dual discrete analog oscillators, a resonant 24dB low-pass ladder filter, 12 digital stereo effects (reverbs, delays, distortions, and modulations), three envelope modulators, and a 32-step note/parameter sequencer with full MIDI Continuous Controller (CC) automation support.
đĄ How to configure the Dreadbox Typhon in closeby.oneâŧ
To connect your Dreadbox Typhon to your web browser, connect your synth using a USB cable or a dedicated USB-to-MIDI interface.
Open the MIDI Settings panel above, set the Output Port to your connected Typhon device, and select the correct MIDI channel (default is channel 1). Once configured, you can map the MIDI CC layout sliders, draw automated parameter curves, and edit patches in real-time without installing any software.

To synchronize these sliders, select your synthesizer's MIDI Input Port above. When you physically tweak knobs on your synth, the slider positions will instantly update on-screen to match.

MIDI Troubleshooting
đ¨ High-pitched whine or ground loop noise over USB power
The Typhon's pure analog circuits are sensitive to ground loop noise when powered from a computer USB port. Use a dedicated 5V 1A USB wall charger or insert an inexpensive USB ground loop isolator between your computer and the Typhon.
đ¨ Configuring MIDI receive and send channels
Press the [SET] button, navigate with the encoder to 'MIDI Settings', and select 'MIDI In Channel' (1â16). Ensure 'MIDI IN / OUT' is set to either USB or DIN depending on your cable connection.
đ¨ Enabling Slider MIDI CC transmission
In the SET menu under MIDI settings, enable 'CC Out'. Moving the front panel sliders will then broadcast live MIDI CC messages to closeby.one or your DAW for recording automation.
