The Novation Bass Station II is an analog monophonic bass synthesizer featuring dual oscillators, sub-oscillator, noise generator, two discrete filters (Acid and Classic), and dual envelopes.

💡 How to configure the Novation Bass Station II MIDI Editorâ–ŧ

To control your Novation Bass Station II from your web browser, connect your synth to your computer using a USB cable or a dedicated USB-to-MIDI interface.

Open the MIDI Settings panel above, set the Output Port to your connected Bass Station II device, and select the correct MIDI channel (default is channel 1). Once configured, you can map the MIDI CC layout sliders, draw automated parameter curves, and edit patches in real-time without installing any software.

â„šī¸ How MIDI CC Sync Works

MIDI CC is a one-way push protocol. Synthesizers cannot be queried dynamically to read their current parameter values. To synchronize these sliders, select your synthesizer's MIDI Input Port above. When you physically tweak knobs on your synth, the slider positions will instantly update on-screen to match.

Firmware & Help Reference

Firmware Version Details

Latest Stable:v4.14

Update via the Novation Components utility (Chrome web-MIDI tool or desktop app). Firmware v4.14 unlocks AFX Mode (key-by-key synthesis tweaks), envelope retrigger count, oscillator divergence, and sub-oscillator detuning.

MIDI Troubleshooting

🚨 Interrupted Update Bootloader Reset

If a firmware update fails and the unit is unresponsive, hold down the 'Function', 'Sync', and 'Arp' buttons simultaneously while connecting the power supply. This forces bootloader mode to allow re-flashing.

🚨 Keyboard Silenced (Local Control)

If pressing keys emits MIDI but does not play internal synth voices, Local Control is turned off. Press 'Function', then press the 'Local' key (C4) to toggle Local Control back ON.
