Patchbay-Equipped Synthesizers
What is a Physical Patchbay?
Traditional subtractive synthesizers have a fixed, pre-wired signal path (often called a normalled path): the oscillator feeds into the filter, which feeds into the amplifier, controlled by envelopes and LFOs.
Semi-modular synthesizers break this mold by providing a physical patch bay. By inserting physical patch cables (usually 3.5mm TS mini-jacks), you can reroute control voltages (CV) and audio signals to create brand new sound routing maps.
Plugging a cable into an input jack overrides the internal default connection. This lets you modulate the filter cutoff with an envelope output, split an oscillator signal to ring-modulate another voice, or sync complex LFO waveforms across external eurorack setups.
💡 Preset Hub Mappings: Since voice parameters on patch bay synthesizers are typically physical only and do not respond to MIDI CC automation, closeby.one lets you document and store your physical patch cable configurations and usage notes digitally, so you can share and recall your modular patches.

MicroBrute
The Arturia MicroBrute is a compact analog monophonic synthesizer featuring a Steiner-Parker filter, multi-wave oscillator with shape modulators, and a mini patch bay. NOTE: Voice parameters are physical only and do not respond to MIDI CC.
Crave
The Behringer Crave is an analog semi-modular synthesizer featuring a 3340 VCO oscillator, a Moog-style 24dB ladder filter, built-in sequencer, and a 32-point patch bay.
K-2
The Behringer K-2 is an analog semi-modular synthesizer clone of the classic MS-20, featuring dual VCOs, ring modulator, and highpass/lowpass peaky filters.
Model 15
